Programs and Services
The MHCHS manages 193 Family and 30 Special Needs housing units throughout Medicine Hat. These units are available for households with low or modest incomes. The chart below identifies the maximum income per household depending on the number of bedrooms required by the household, as determined by the Government of Alberta.
Potential participants must undergo an application process to determine their eligibility. The participant will be evaluated according to household income thresholds, household composition, asset limits, and citizenship requirements. Once it has been determined that the participant meets the eligibility requirements, he or she will be placed on a waiting list for the most suitable housing program. The waiting list is first-come-first-serve, but level of need is also taken into account.
The MHCHS currently manages 552 rental unites and 460 private market rental supplements.
